In the name of God, go!”

IT IS RUMORED THAT THIS IS THE OPENING LINE OF OBAMA’S STATE OF UNION SPEECH TO CONGRESS:
“You have sat too long for any good you have been doing lately... Depart, I say; and let us have done with you. In the name of God, go!” (He may substitute “Alinsky” for “God”)

He is copying Oliver Cromwell’s dismissal of the Long Parliament in England and intending to rule thereafter, as Cromwell did, by fiat and ukase, until the ‘end of time’.  Reportedly, his 1st act will be to raise the Minimum Wage to $10.10 by ‘his own will’ and ‘executive order’.

The new catch phrase for the rest of His term is “I will it ....., and it shall be done” .

OBAMA SPEAKS - ALINSKY RULES

What do 75,000 potholes filled in Chicago ( so far this winter) and the big O’s raising the minimum wage for government contractors to $10.10 an hr. by Presidential fiat have in common?  They are all big holes?   Have your adult drink in hand ready to be tipped to the lips ever so often tonight as you watch the staging of Saul Alinsky’s rules for America’s radical destruction.

Spectacular Grammies but..

Spectacular Grammies but...

Seeing merely 15 minutes of the Grammy awards, my mouth hung open, then my head hung down in shame.  This is what has become of talent and entertainment in America?  Exquisite production values for pure garbage?  Unending commercials just affirmed the state of U.S. depravity. What can one say about porn on parade?  A finger raised to everything decent?  16 minutes would have sucked my soul into a depression so I just progressed to the comedy of the Red/Green show.

CRITICAL INFORMATION FOR ALL CONSERVATIVE GROUPS!
Ohio Citizens PAC
P.O. Box 6211, Akron, OH 44312

Dear Thomas,

I am writing with information of the upmost importance to all Liberty/Conservative Leaders in Ohio and their group members. Below you will find an excellent letter written by Jack Painter, an OLC Board Member and Liberty Leader, with help and input from several other attorney's, that you MUST READ and distribute to ALL OF OUR MEMBERS. Now, I just had an email exchange with a liberty leader a few days ago, where I said that I do not have the power to tell anyone what to do because we are all volunteers! However, this is critical information and a real danger for our movement and that is why I am using the word MUST.

Jack does an excellent job of writting out an explicit policy concerning activity that the Ohio Liberty Coalition, which is a tax-exempt 501(c) 4, will or will not do in regards to "political" activity based on the currrent legal environment.  I implore all of our groups to take his email and adopt it as the official policy of your group. Have it approved as an official policy by your board and put it in an email to all of your members so they know not only what your group can and will do, but also what they can do. It does not matter if you are a 501(c)4 or not, the laws we are currrently under say that even if two citizens get together and create a Facebook page to, for instance, "Support Nino Vitale for Ohio House", you have to file to be a state PAC and tell the government everything you do! We are not kidding. This is only in Ohio.

By Jack putting this policy in writting, and the OLC following it, its give the OLC a tremendous amount of legal protection from political enemies who would try to damage the organization by claiming their actions are in voilation of Ohio or Federal Election laws. You, unfortunately need this same protection and clear understanding of what you can or can not do.

Now, while this is appropriate action for us all to take, don't get me wrong this is HORRIBLE.  What has in fact happened because of legal losses, like the Corsi Case in Geauga County and the Licking County ruling by the Ohio Elections Board, is that all of us in Ohio are having our 1st Amendment Rights of Free Speach unconstitutionally taken away from us.  In fact, only in Ohio do we NOT have the rights granted by the Supreme Court in the Citizens United ruling to, as a group, support the candidates we choose without having to report everything we do to the government. Until we can raise the $25,000 plus that it will take to appeal this to the Supreme Court, where we will win, we can not do anything as groups to support candidates like we did in 2012. Which Jack spells out clearly in his letter.  Now again, when I say groups, I am not just talking about your liberty group, but any group of people who wants to put a $100 together to print a tri-fold to support their friend who is running for city council and hand them out. They need to become a PAC!!! You can not support a candidate on your website or send out an email opposing any candidate using an email address that is anything but a personal email address!!!  Yes, it is that bad.

Then Attorney Bill Todd told us yesterday at our state meeeting, that the changes proposed by the Treasury Department to IRS Rules about allowable campaing activity by 501(c)4's will make it illegal for 501(c) 4 to do anything political at all by March. Basically, what the Obama Administration is doing is trying to make it nearly impossible for us, TEA Party/Conservatives, to win the Senate and protect the House in 2014 by stopping our ability to organize and act as a unit for what we believe in.  They do not want another 2010 or worse, so they are just institutionalizing the targeting that they did to our groups in 2011 and 2012 through the IRS.

The only way around this is to go to the expense and trouble of being a state or federal or Super PAC.  Which is why this email is coming from the Ohio Citizen's PAC which is a State PAC. We have the Portage County TEA Party PAC and a few other groups around the state also have state PAC's but not many. Those PAC's will still be able to send out emails saying that we support a candidate or asking people to vote for or against a certain candidate. However, even these State PAC's can not do the same for Federal races.  To do that you must have a Federal PAC or better yet a Super PAC which allows you to do both State and Federal campaign activity.  However, these are expensive and costly to opperate.

Glenn Newman and Jack Painter have been exploring the possibility of forming an OLC Super PAC but the cost to set it up are high and the cost to operate it are even higher. The bottom line is, that they are taking away our right to participate in the electoral process through legal, and economic means.  The only way available to reclaim our Constitutional Rights is to fight for them in court.  That costs money. So we are going to have to raise it.  We will figure out how to do that in the coming weeks, but until then, PLEASE put these policies in place, and follow them, to protect your group, your members and yourselves.

Sincerely,

Tom Zawistowski

Subject: [OLC Members] Message on campaign finance law compliance
Date: January 24, 2014 10:59:49 PM EST
To: "members@ohiolibertycoalition.org"

January 24, 2014

Dear OLC group leader:

I’m writing to clarify the approach the Ohio Liberty Coalition takes to ensure it complies with state and federal campaign finance laws.

You might find this helpful in making sure your group complies as well.

Here is our basic approach to communications:

        We don’t make statements about whether to vote for or against a candidate, either in blast emails or on our Web site.
        We expect members to avoid those types of statements when using our listserv email address to communicate with other members.
        Any statements of express advocacy (vote for or against; support so and so) or endorsement are made only by individuals on their own through their own Web sites or email systems.

When it comes to spending money, we follow similar rules.

        We don’t pay for flyers, ads, or other things that advocate voting for or against a candidate.
        We also don’t contribute to candidates or parties, either or in cash or in kind.

These rules don’t restrict us from doing the following through the OLC:

        Posting Web site content and sending emails that comment on issues of the day and urge people to influence elected officials on those issues.  For example, we might point out that we believe Medicaid expansion is a terrible idea and that we think John Kasich is wrong on the issue, and we might urge people to contact John Kasich to urge him to oppose Medicaid expansion.  This is issue advocacy and is permitted.
        Providing information that informs our members about how they can contact specific people or groups, including campaigns, to help with voter registration, phone banks, literature distribution or get-out-the-vote efforts.
        Urging members of OLC groups as individuals to contribute to a specific PAC to support its efforts.

Our approach depends on the willingness of people to act on their own as individuals to (a) engage in express advocacy for and against candidates or spend money on express advocacy, or (b) make campaign contributions.

One way for a person to engage in express advocacy as an individual is to set up your own Constant Contact or Mail Chimp account (separate from your group) or your own personal Web site and avoid giving the false impression that your communications and Web site are from your liberty group or are endorsed by it.

If you need help setting up an email account or a Web site in your own name, please contact John Stevenot at john.stevenot@gmail.com or 513-535-0913.

IRS SCANDAL UPDATE

IRS SCANDAL UPDATE: Politico: Paul Ryan wants media to investigate IRS as aggressively as Bridgegate. Don’t be silly. Chris Christie is a Republican.

BRYAN PRESTON: This Is Starting to Look Like a Pattern of Political Moves and Prosecutions. “This is starting to make Nixon look like a walk in the park.” SINCE ALL OF YOUR COMMUNICATION ARE BEING RECORDED BY NSA (and the Obama Administration):

SEEN ON FACEBOOK: “Maybe we should start emailing each other copies of the Constitution, so we can know that the government has read it.”

RICK MORAN: Media Not Very Curious about D’Souza Indictment. “The indictment of a major critic of the president has elicited little more than yawns from the media. This is a case where you don’t even have to connect the dots. Just read a little history.”

The press basically approves of thuggery, so long as it’s aimed at people they don’t like. They only start talking about civility, due process, the constitution, and free speech when they or their allies are in trouble. And the presumption of innocence only applies to Democratic pols and operatives. Elsewise, “indicted” is treated as tantamount to “convicted.”

Compulsory Good Samaritanism is a form of Involuntary Servitude

Compulsory Good Samaritanism is a form of Involuntary Servitude

… is from page 97 of David Kelley’s 1998 book, A Life of One’s Own: Individual Rights and the Welfare State:
“In moral terms, welfare programs amount to compulsory Good Samaritanism.  Suppose it were argued that, out of compassion for those in need, every citizen should be compelled to work seven hours per week as a “volunteer” in a hospital, poverty center, or institution for the disabled.  (Seven hours is 17.5 percent of a 40-hour work week and represents about the same proportion of taxable income that goes to support the welfare state.)  In the sphere of private philanthropy, after all, people do contribute their time as well as their money.  If government programs are simply a collective way to organize charitable activities, why not compel both sorts of contributions?  Why not support welfare programs through a kind of “draft” as well as through taxes?  Such proposals have in fact been made from time to time, usually in the form of national service requirements for the young.  Such proposals illustrate the same principle as compulsory Good Samaritanism: by compelling a form of involuntary servitude, they negate the individual’s right to his own life.”

TODAY IS THE ONE-YEAR ANNIVERSARY of Hillary’s “What difference at this point does it make?”
AU CONTRAIRE,  I SUGGEST:
1. 4 AMERICANS WERE KILLED.
2. IT WAS HILLARY’S JOB TO PROTECT THEM.
3. HILARY & OBAMA LIED ABOUT THE CAUSE AND JAILED AN INNOCENT FILMAKER TO COVER THEIR BUTTS.

I THINK IT MADE A DIFFERENCE THEN AND “AT THIS POINT” CONTRARY TO HILARY’S SHRILL SHRIEK.

THEY TOLD ME IF I VOTED FOR MITT ROMNEY, THE NUMBER OF UNINSURED WOULD CONTINUE TO GROW. AND THEY WERE RIGHT! So What Was The Point Of ObamaCare Again? “It created more uninsured people than it gave insurance to. And it promises to create even more.”

proposed IRS rule targeting the Tea Party reflect fear, anger.

MY SUBMITTED COMMENT:
“A citizen can only conclude from the language of this regulation that IRS Rule represents the complete capitulation of the Agency to becoming not only a political arm of this Administration but also an enforcer against perceived enemies of this Administration.”

TRUST OBAMA - THE MAN WHO REWRITES THE CONSTITUTION DAILY

TRUST OBAMA - THE MAN WHO REWRITES THE CONSTITUTION DAILY
Something to agree with in Obama’s speech:
Given the unique power of the state, it is not enough for leaders to say: Trust us, we won’t abuse the data we collect. For history has too many examples when that trust has been breached. Our system of government is built on the premise that our liberty cannot depend on the good intentions of those in power; it depends on the law to constrain those in power.

But in the case of the Obama Administration, the law has been doing a pretty sorry job of that. We need a lot more people to lose their jobs or go to jail to drive that lesson home.

WOULD HE BANISH HIS OWN FATHER?

WOULD HE BANISH HIS OWN FATHER?
Andrew Cuomo Puts a ‘Catholics Need Not Reside’ Sign Up in New York

Thank God for Andrew Cuomo. His rant Friday night, insisting that people who seek to defend the dignity of human life of the unborn and the sick and elderly are extremists, and are not fit to live in the state of New York is telling.

This banishment fantasy, of course, includes anyone who believes Catholic Church teaching on human life.

A few things to observe about what he said:

Look how far we have come since 1984. On Sept. 13 of that year, another Governor Cuomo, Andrew’s father, Mario, famously laid out his contention that being personally opposed to abortion – the taking of innocent human life – and being a public advocate for its legality and subsequent policy accommodations was an morally sound position for a Catholic in politics. Now we’ve moved away from pretending his is a coherent and theologically acceptable position. As we enter the week of the anniversary of the Supreme Court’s Roe v. Wade decision 41 years ago Wednesday, Andrew Cuomo explains that the only acceptable public position in the state of New York is to support legal abortion — and, based on his agenda, its expansion.

Ironically, Mario Cuomo justified his position as an exercise in protecting religious freedom. That incoherent slippery slope led to the Little Sisters of the Poor being told by the federal government to green-light abortion drugs, contraception, and female sterilization insurance coverage to employees. (See here and here and here and here for more on the case of the Obama administration vs. the Little Sisters of the Poor.)

Is Dad fit for New York? During his 1984 speech, Mario Cuomo talked of his and his wife’s personal consideration that “a fetus is different from an appendix or a set of tonsils.” Sounds like some of that crazy “right-to-life” talk his son just warned about! Fortunately for Mario, he said it in Indiana, at Notre Dame. Democratic politicians have been known to say crazy things there. President Obama, you might recall, said he would protect conscience rights in health-care reform in a much-protested speech there. Perhaps what is said in South Bend stays in South Bend? As we’ve seen with the Department of Health and Human Services abortion drug, contraception, sterilization mandate: As long as you don’t actually do anything with your moral conviction in the public square – including the charity you run or the business you operate – it’s tolerable to believe other than what those who confuse use with a cultural tyranny desire and issue regulatory and judicial mandates about when they can. Never mind that the life of the unborn tracks from science – seen on many a sonogram across the country — typically celebrated, scientifically unmistakable.

Who is the worst enemy of religious freedom: The enemy is within. Andrew Cuomo is a professed Catholic proclaiming the Gospel of secularism. Just as many a professed Catholic whose names are on the case names of all the lawsuits against the Department of Health and Human Services abortion drug, contraception, sterilization mandate.

Secularism is not just a religion for atheist and agnostics, but every practical atheist – every religious believer who doesn’t live any differently than the culture prescribes. Any Christian who isn’t constantly challenged by the mandates of the Gospel and the precepts of his faith contributes to the tsunami of secularism. Too many of us all too often fall into this category, some as a matter of fallen nature and bad habits, others as a matter of lukewarm faith and utter indifference. Make no mistake: We make it easier for politicians to push religious faith to the margins.

Did the governor think about what he said? I mean beyond the part where he banishes anyone with a heart for the unborn to New Jersey. He used the phrase “right-to-life.” That does suggest death to be the other option. At least he’s being honest about it – not screaming “Your body, your choice!” as he did during his state of the state address last year, veiling evil in faux empowerment. It’s more likely he didn’t think about it, he’s immune to it. A lot of our culture is. By looking away, we let evil happen and we are its accomplices.

Does the governor have any idea what happened two states away? Wendy Davis, star of standing athwart reasonable restrictions on late-terms abortions to protect some babies and women, had no idea who Pennsylvania’s Kermit Gosnell was when asked. (She is also happy to describe herself as “pro-life,” but you can read more thoughts on that here.) Cuomo’s Reproductive Health Act would make it easier for a Gosnell to operate in New York. Does Cuomo think the now jailed Gosnell is a hero who should be working at the Clinton Global Initiative? (Gosnell has voiced this as a dream of his.)

The Democratic party today. During the 2012 election cycle, Philadelphia archbishop Charles J. Chaput observed that a few decades ago he would have never would have thought the Democratic party would have become the party of legal abortion — there were too many Catholics in it. But the JFK posture of privatizing religion became the culture — now not just the preference, but mandated (see HHS Mandate). First Mario Cuomo pontificates. Then Bob Casey gets ostracized at his own party’s convention … and here we are: No room for “right-to-life” views in the Empire State. Mercifully the governor is not emperor. (Cue again to women on the frontlines of helping mothers and fathers and families embrace life, like Dr. Anne Nolte, Dr. Elissa Sanchez-Speach, the Sisters of Life, Cheryl Calire, Kathy Gallagher, Lisa Hall, Susanne Metaxas, Maria McFadden and Anne Conlon, and Theresa Bonapartis. The list goes on.)

History forgotten. I mentioned the suffragettes Friday night. When Andrew Cuomo took to his abortion-expansion campaign last year, a pro-life feminist accused him of “desecrating” “holy ground.” Former NY governor Hugh Carey regretted having been a “cafeteria Catholic,” particularly in not defending the lives of the unborn during his political career. Would Andrew Cuomo have asked him to leave the state? What about Daniel Patrick Moynihan considering partial-birth abortion infanticide? Go be a senator from one of those backward states. We don’t have room for your extremism here?

What passes for non-extremism these days: Abortion expansion as “women’s health” policy. The Women’s Equality Act includes a Reproductive Health Act in which all its iterations would make abortion easier to obtain in New York – lower standards equals less safe for women. Legislators went this direction in California, so apparently that’s not a state for pro-life exiles of Cuomo’s New York to consider as a new home. (Much more on the Women’s Equality Act here and here and here and here and here and here and here.)

Don’t let Andrew Cuomo get away with claiming he speaks for the women of New York state. Drs. Anne Nolte and Elissa Sanchez-Speach are among the doctors who have spoken out against his abortion-expansion push. Does the governor really believe that elected representative Nicole Malliotakis should not live, never mind hold public office in the Empire State simply because she disagrees with him on fundamental moral and political issues? Would he have the New York State Catholic Conference – a longtime, vocal opponent of his abortion-expansion push – close up shop? Mercifully, it’s not up to him. Pro-lifers still have the freedom to live in New York and are not packing their bags.

Anyone who claims the mantle of “tolerance” in the name of the institutionalization and mandating of sexual revolutionary values ought to be distancing themselves from Andrew Cuomo’s denunciation of what may just be the majority of New Yorkers. You don’t have to be an avowed or dedicated pro-lifer to find New York’s abysmally high abortion rates unacceptable. As pollster John McLaughlin has found, when New Yorkers realize the state of the state on abortion, they join the likes of Cardinal Dolan in protest.

Don’t let there be crickets on this. This is an outrageous intolerance from a governor looking toward his political future in the Democratic party, securing his good graces with the abortion industry who his party – and all too many politicians – are content to serve. This is the same intolerance and culture-war-waging that Catholics who oppose abortion and assisted suicide, and who support traditional marriage, are accused of waging. But notice who put the Little Sisters of the Poor in the position of having to insist the Supreme Court relieve them of an un-American conscience-violating mandate. Notice who it is telling New Yorkers who believe we have to protect the most innocent – and we most definitely ought not be making their shot at seeing the light of day any harder – are not worthy of residence in the Empire State. It’s not Cardinal Dolan (who recently won a court victory on religious liberty). It’s not the Little Sisters of the Poor. It’s not pro-life Democrat Ruben Diaz. It’s not even National Review, a New York mainstay since 1955! The assault on religious liberty and conscience in America is coming from a radical secularist ideology on the Left. The narrowing of freedom is not coming from people who propose alternatives to the sexual revolutionary values, but from those, like Andrew Cuomo, who insist on doubling down on a culture of death, coercing submission and banishing dissent, all while using words like tolerance and choice.

The governor was honest about his secularist ideological thinking. This is the battle today. This is his worldview and he’s not alone. As you see, even people who profess religious belief buy in. Indifference and surrender is buy-in, too.

Anyone who sees Andrew Cuomo’s posture (as he expressed it Friday) and policies (as represented by his Women’s Equality Act and its all important abortion-expanding Reproductive Health Act) as the affront to and assault on human dignity and the health of a democratic republic that it is better consider themselves civic players with some serious stewardship duties.

And even before that: If one professes to believe something: Live it, already! What are we waiting for? In private and in the public square. It’s that integration civil society needs — we all need.

Actress Out Of San Francisco Production After Endorsing Tea Party Candidate
January 18, 2014 12:09 AM
SAN FRANCISCO (KPIX 5) — A famed actress is facing backlash in San Francisco’s Latino community, after she voiced support for a conservative candidate for California governor.
Maria Conchita Alonso starred in a campaign ad for Assemblyman Tim Donnelly of San Bernardino County, a Tea Party favorite who is seeking the Republican nomination.
.......
Alonso is an actress of Cuban and Venezuelan descent. She is perhaps best known for her role in the movie “Moscow on the Hudson” which also starred Robin Williams.
The actress was to perform next month at the Brava Theater Center in San Francisco’s Mission District in a Spanish-language version of “The Vagina Monologues,” scheduled for a run from February 14th through 17th. The show is being produced by none other than Eliana Lopez, wife of San Francisco Sheriff Ross Mirkarimi.
“We really cannot have her in the show, unfortunately,” Lopez told KPIX 5. She said Alonso abruptly resigned from the cast on Friday, given the backlash on the immigration issue.
“Of course she has the right to say whatever she wants. But we’re in the middle of the Mission. Doing what she is doing is against what we believe,” Lopez said.
Alonso received an earful from listeners of Spanish-language radio station KIQI 1010 AM in San Francisco on Friday, after she said in an interview that she supported many of Donnelly’s views on illegal immigration. Several listeners took her to task after she used the term “illegal” to describe undocumented immigrants.
.......
“First Amendment rights, we all have the right to say something. But it’s also our right to say we object to that,” Salinas said.

YOUR IDEAS - WHY WAS MR. MOHAMED BREAKING INTO THE WATER SUPPLY?
Mohamed broke into the plant that treats and pumps water for the township of Manalapan
NOTE THAT HE WASN’T CAUGHT VIA EMAIL-INTERCEPTS: Water Treatment Plant Invader Stuck In Pipe. “Rescuers have freed a man who had been stuck for hours in a pipe at a water treatment plant in New Jersey. Officials told CBS 2 around 11:30 a.m. that 26-year-old Asef Mohamed, of Manalapan, had been freed and airlifted to an area hospital. He was 10 to 12 feet down the pipe, which was not in use, WCBS 880's Levon Putney reported. United Water spokesman Rich Henning said Mohamed broke into the plant that treats and pumps water for the township of Manalapan. Workers heard cries for help coming from the pipe around 7 a.m. Friday. . . . ‘This was a person that purposely climbed a six-foot fence with three or four layers of barbed wire on top,’ Henning said. United Water officials said they have no idea why Mohamed did it, but are now looking at ways to tighten up security, Putney reported.”

Cuomo: Pro-life people have “no place in the state of New York”
POSTED AT 7:31 PM ON JANUARY 17, 2014 BY MARY KATHARINE HAM

Forty-eight percent of Americans and all priests and nuns are no longer welcome in the Empire State, according to its governor. Delivering a monologue on Republicans with all the hyperbole of an MSNBC anchor and none of the charm, Cuomo offered this:
“It’s more about extreme Republicans versus moderate Republicans. ....Who are they? Are they these extreme conservatives who are right-to-life, pro-assault-weapon, anti-gay? Is that who they are? Because if that’s who they are and they’re the extreme conservatives, they have no place in the state of New York, because that’s not who New Yorkers are.”

As Life News notes, he leans heavily on the President Barack tactic to simply declare everyone who disagrees with your positions in the slightest “extreme,” even if many of those people are your constituents. But how extreme is the pro-life position, even in a blue state like New York? Unlike, say, gay marriage, the polling on abortion restrictions, particularly second and third trimesters, regularly and overwhelmingly favors the more conservative position.

Can Obama’s Legal End-Run Around Congress Be Stopped?

Can Obama’s Legal End-Run Around Congress Be Stopped?
TRUST GOVERNMENT - TRUST OBAMA - HO, HO, HO!
By DAVID RIVKIN and ELIZABETH PRICE FOLEY January 15, 2014
The Constitution, many of us learned in grade school, assigns the legislative power to the legislative branch, not the executive. The Constitution also commands that the president “take care that the laws be faithfully executed.” Unfortunately, President Obama either missed that lesson or considers it inapplicable to his own administration. Thus, his promise-cum-threat, made in the heat of last year’s campaign: “Where Republicans refuse to cooperate on things that I know are good for the American people, I will continue to look for ways to do it administratively and work around Congress.”
Obama has delivered on his promise and worked around Congress with breathtaking audacity. In his signature legislative achievement alone, the Affordable Care Act, the president has unilaterally amended the law multiple times, including delaying the employer mandate and caps on out-of-pocket expenses, waiving the individual mandate for certain people, extending tax credits to individuals who purchase insurance through the federal health insurance exchange and ignoring a statutory requirement that Congress and their staff participate in the exchanges. But the president’s audacity doesn’t stop with Obamacare. He has also suspended immigration law, refusing to deport certain young illegal aliens—a major reform that Congress has refused to enact. Similarly, with the stroke of a magisterial pen, he has gutted large swaths of federal law that enjoy bipartisan support, including the Clinton-era welfare reform work requirement, the Bush-era No Child Left Behind law and the classification of marijuana as an illegal controlled substance.
So much for the separation of powers

THE WEAPONIZED IRS: Sarah Palin:
My father, who worked multiple jobs and faithfully and honestly paid his taxes for fifty years, had never heard a word from the IRS. In 2008, his daughter was tapped to run for vice president of the United States. Since that time, he has been, in his words “horribly harassed” six times by the agency. They’ve tried to dig up something on him but he’s always operated above board.

I’d publish the name of every single IRS person I interacted with, and record all the interactions.

FBI conclusions reached without ever speaking to a single conservative or Tea Party organization

CLETA MITCHELL: What FBI ‘investigation’ of the IRS scandal?
Last week, we learned that the head of the “probe,” Barbara Bosserman, is a donor to Obama campaigns and the Democratic National Committee. This is, someone who could hardly be trusted to understand what all the fuss is about.

Now we learn that the FBI has “concluded” that there was no actual illegal activity involved in the IRS scandal, conclusions reached without ever speaking to a single conservative or Tea Party organization leader or attorney to learn what actually happened these past four years.

Having represented dozens of groups before the IRS over the years, including many victimized by the IRS in this scandal, one might have thought the FBI might have called me or even one of my clients.

But, to paraphrase the song, if our telephone ain’t ringin,’ I guess it must be the FBI “investigating” the IRS.

If only Bush had been smart enough to do this during the Plame kerfuffle. The press doesn’t seem to even notice . . .

ordain their fraudulent schemes as lawful

The most skilled and ambitious con artists, therefore, gravitate toward politics.  Why would they not?  There, these scammers not only have much looser reins to act as (quoting Mr. Surowiecki) “greedy hucksters who sell us dreams that never come true” (remember Solyndra?), they also – because through the fiat of legislation they themselves ordain their fraudulent schemes as lawful – enjoy the added benefit of seldom being exposed as the shysters that they are.
Politics is truly the perfect con game.

Reason’s Nick Gillespie rightly calls the ban on what was “once the very symbol of a good idea” – the incandescent lightbulb – the dumbest ban of 2014.  It might well be the dumbest ban of the decade: it’s the gloomy product of crony capitalism, officious and often benighted environmentalists, and what George Will calls “Gesture Liberalism.”

Nets give 'Bridgegate' 17 times more coverage in 1 day than IRS scandal in 6 months

The Big Three networks, in a frenzy over New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie's traffic headache dubbed “Bridgegate,” have devoted a whopping 34 minutes and 28 seconds of coverage to the affair in just the last 24 hours.

By comparison, that's 17 times the two minutes, eight seconds devoted to President Obama's IRS scandal in the last six months, according to an analysis by the Media Research Center.

“While routinely burying new stories on the IRS scandal, the media practically fell over themselves to start taking shots at the potential 2016 Republican presidential nominee,” said the conservative media watchdog.

Since Wednesday night, NBC News included six reports over 14 minutes and 14 seconds. CBS devoted five reports over 12 minutes and 27 seconds. ABC managed 4 stories over seven minutes and 47 seconds, said MRC.

As a comparison over the last six months, NBC featured five seconds on updating the IRS story. CBS responded with a minute and 41 seconds. ABC produced a meager 22 seconds.

Nannyism - DO THEY THINK WE ARE IDIOTS!

Nannyism - DO THEY THINK WE ARE IDIOTS!

Coldest period in 50 years (damn global warming) has filled the News with dire warning and scolding for a week.  True enough, Ohio early morning temperature was -12F with wind chill of minus 30F.  Average temperature across entire country, Minneapolis to California and Florida was only 17.5F on 1/7/14.

But every newscasts has contained many Nannyisms warning us bumpkins of things we must do to be safe.
Do they think we are idiots?  In no particular order:
1.  Wear extra clothing.
2.  Don’t expose your skin. (1&2 are usually said by a bimbo standing outside without hat or gloves)
3.  Be careful with space heaters.
4.  Make sure your vehicle has anti-freeze.
5.  Don’t drink alcohol to warm up outside.
6.  Don’t drive on ice.
7.  Have stockpile of food and drink.
8.  Wrap you water pipes.
9.  Have extra batteries for essential remote controls.
DO THEY THINK WE ARE IDIOTS?

Last night at 1AM, with wind howling and temperature below zero, the remote for our electric blanket pooped out.  We had no backup AAA batteries.  By shaking and rotating batteries in the remote throughout the night we kept it heating until this morning.

'Public Service vs. Crass Capitalism

-8F.  Going to -12F with wind chill of -30F.  To bad you are not visiting now.

As we listened to all the cancellations we had the following thought:
Why is it most ‘public services’ institutions close down for cold and virtually all ‘money grubbing profit business’ stay open and their ‘proletarian employees’ continue to serve the public.

WALTER E. WILLIAMS 1 - POPE FRANCIS 0

Pope Francis, in his apostolic exhortation, levied charges against free market capitalism, denying that “economic growth, encouraged by a free market, will inevitably succeed in bringing about greater justice and inclusiveness in the world” and concluding that “this opinion ... has never been confirmed by the facts.” He went on to label unfettered capitalism as "a new tyranny." Let’s look at the pope’s tragic vision.
First, I acknowledge that capitalism fails miserably when compared with heaven or a utopia. Any earthly system is going to come up short in such a comparison. However, mankind must make choices among alternative economic systems that actually exist on earth. For the common man, capitalism is superior to any system yet devised to deal with his everyday needs and desires.
Capitalism is relatively new in human history. Prior to capitalism, the way people amassed great wealth was by looting, plundering and enslaving their fellow man. With the rise of capitalism, it became possible to amass great wealth by serving and pleasing your fellow man. Capitalists seek to discover what people want and produce and market it as efficiently as possible as a means to profit. A couple of examples would be J.D. Rockefeller, whose successful marketing drove kerosene prices down from 58 cents a gallon in 1865 to 7 cents in 1900. Henry Ford became rich by producing cars for the common man. Both Ford’s and Rockefeller’s personal benefits pale in comparison with that received by the common man by having cheaper kerosene and cheaper transportation. There are literally thousands of examples of how mankind’s life has been made better by those in the pursuit of profits. Here's my question to you: Are people who, by their actions, created unprecedented convenience, longer life expectancy and a more pleasant life for the ordinary person -- and became wealthy in the process -- deserving of all the scorn and ridicule heaped upon them by intellectuals, politicians and now the pope?
Let’s examine the role of profits but first put it in perspective in terms of magnitude. Between 1960 and 2012, after-tax corporate profit averaged a bit over 6 percent of the gross domestic product, while wages averaged 47 percent of the GDP. Far more important than simple statistics about the magnitude of profits is its role in guiding resources to their highest-valued uses and satisfying people. Try polling people with a few questions. Ask them what services they are more satisfied with and what they are less satisfied with. On the "more satisfied" list would be profit-making enterprises, such as supermarkets, theaters, clothing stores and computer stores. They’d find less satisfaction with services provided by nonprofit government organizations, such as public schools, post offices and departments of motor vehicles.
Profits force entrepreneurs to find ways to please people in the most efficient ways or go out of business. Of course, they can mess up and stay in business if they can get government to bail them out or give them protection against competition. Nonprofits have an easier time of it. Public schools, for example, continue to operate whether they do a good job or not and whether they please parents or not. That’s because politicians provide their compensation through coercive property taxes. I’m sure that we’d be less satisfied with supermarkets if they, too, had the power to take our money through taxes, as opposed to being forced to find ways to get us to voluntarily give them our earnings.
Arthur C. Brooks, president at the American Enterprise Institute and author of “Who Really Cares,” shows that Americans are the most generous people on the face of the earth. In fact, if you look for generosity around the world, you find virtually all of it in countries that are closer to the free market end of the economic spectrum than they are to the socialist or communist end. Seeing as Pope Francis sees charity as a key part of godliness, he ought to stop demonizing capitalism.

CONGRESS SCHEDULES 113 WORK DAYS FOR ALL OF 2014

CONGRESS SCHEDULES 113 WORK DAYS FOR ALL OF 2014
I don’t understand.  Today’s news crows that Congress returns to take up the nation’s business.  First item up is the extension of long-term unemployment benefits.  Congress, however, has scheduled only 113 working days for all of 2014.  How is it that they who  are virtually unemployed (113 days out of 365) and receiving lavish pay and benefits do not see that (ironically) they should also receive benefits as the unemployed?  Shouldn’t they understand those Americans missing 365 of work are 2/3 as underemployed as Congress?

Furthermore, doesn’t Congress realize that they are the cause of unemployment for the masses?  Job crushing regulations, ObamaCare, cronyism another hike in the minimum wage and self-dealing by politicians and unions cause unemployment. Congress causes unemployment.

I also don’t understand that during the turmoil of the rollout of ObamaCare and the expiration of unemployment benefits, President Obama took his longest vacation ever, EVER, 20 days, while Washington smoldered.  Are golf and beach bumming  in Hawaii the modern equivalent of Rome burning while Emperor Nero fiddled? Oh yeah, Obama had full perks and benefits during his ‘well-deserved rest.’ Labor on, peasants, those of you who have part-time or meager jobs.

Sic semper tyrannis.

Obama lied about meeting his own brother

Obama lied about meeting his own brother
Jim Treacher:
And yes, I realize the headline is five words too long.

I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again: President Barack Obama would lie about what he had for lunch. While he was eating lunch. He just likes saying things that he knows aren’t true. He feels compelled to do it, he knows he’s doing it, and he knows we know he’s doing it. That’s the whole point. He can say whatever he wants, right to your face. He doesn’t need a reason. Because what are you gonna do about it?

Career Republican politicians? Effete, elite liberal Democrats?

Why are they “feeding on the dainty food of reconciliation?” They should not be “feeding on the dainty food of reconciliation.” “Feeding on the dainty food of reconciliation” does not win victory. These words were a favorite expression of  George Washington the Revolutionary War.  He referenced Americans wishy-washy about rebellion and accommodation. Not only loyalists, but also British and patriots were targeted by these words of our 1st battle-leader and future 1st President. To whom could they referenced today? Career Republican politicians? Effete, elite liberal  Democrats?  Most likely not libertarians. For sure, never Tea Party Patriots who embody the message of Thomas Paine’s Common Sense - freedom shall not be compromised.

BABY? WHAT BABY?

BABY? WHAT BABY?
WASHINGTON (AP) — There's another quirk in the Obama administration's new health insurance system: It lacks a way for consumers to quickly and easily update their coverage for the birth of a baby and other common life changes.
..........
Right now the HealthCare.gov website can't handle such updates.
.........
It's not just having a new baby that could create bureaucratic hassles, but other life changes affecting a consumer's taxpayer-subsidized premiums. The list includes marriage and divorce, a death in the family, a new job or a change in income, even moving to a different community.
.........
But that feature got postponed as the government scrambled to fix technical problems that overwhelmed the health care website during its first couple of months.
"It's just another example of 'We'll fix that later,'" said Bob Laszewski, an industry consultant who said he's gotten complaints from several insurer clients. "This needed to be done well before January. It's sort of a fly-by-night approach."

PERSONS OF INABILITY ACT (POI)

Subject: IT IS JUST A MATTER OF TIME UNTIL THIS FABLE BECOMES REALITY!

The Americans With No Abilities Act (ANAA)

President Barack Obama and the Democratic Senate are considering
sweeping legislation that will provide new benefits for many more
Americans.    The Americans With No Abilities Act is being hailed as
a major legislative goal by advocates of the millions of Americans
who lack any real skills or ambition.

"Roughly 50 percent of Americans do not possess the competence and
drive necessary to carve out a meaningful role for themselves in
society," said California Sen. Barbara Boxer.     "We can no longer
stand by and allow People of Inability (POI) to be ridiculed and
passed over.     With this legislation, employers will no longer be
able to grant special favors to a small group of workers, simply
because they have some idea of what they are doing."

In a Capitol Hill press conference, House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi and
Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid pointed to the success of the
U.S. Postal Service, which has a long-standing policy of providing
opportunity without regard to performance.     At the state government
level, the Department of Motor Vehicles also has an excellent record
of hiring Persons with No Ability (63 percent).

Under the Americans With No Abilities Act, more than 25 million
mid-level positions will be created, with important-sounding titles
but little real responsibility, thus providing an illusory sense
of purpose and performance.

Mandatory non-performance-based raises and promotions will be
given to guarantee upward mobility for even the most unremarkable
employees.     The legislation provides substantial tax breaks to
corporations that promote a significant number of Persons of
Inability (POI) into middle-management positions, and give a tax
credit to small and medium-sized businesses that agree to hire one
clueless worker for every two talented hires.

Finally, the Americans With No Abilities Act contains tough new
measures to make it more difficult to discriminate against the
non-abled, banning, for example, discriminatory interview questions
such as, "Do you have any skills or experience that relate to
this job?"

"As a non-abled person, I can't be expected to keep up with people
who have something going for them," said Mary Lou Gertz, who lost
her position as a lug-nut twister at the GM plant in Flint, Mich.,
due to her inability to remember righty tighty, lefty loosey.   "This
new law should be real good for people like me.     I'll finally have
job security."     With the passage of this bill, Gertz and millions
of other untalented citizens will finally see a light at the end
of the tunnel.

Said Sen. Dick Durbin, II:  "As a senator with no abilities, I believe the
same privileges that elected officials enjoy ought to be extended
to every American with no abilities.     It is our duty as lawmakers
to provide each and every American citizen, regardless of his or
her inadequacy, with some sort of space to take up in this great
nation and a good salary for doing so."

This message was approved by Jesse Jackson, Al Sharpton, Diane
Feinstein, Barbara Boxer, Nancy Pelosi, Harry Reid and Barack Obama.

In politics, you’ll be spending money taken from others forcibly

Mr. Leland Johansen
Dear Mr. Johansen:
I appreciate your note in which you express strong opposition to my negative opinion of politics and politicians.  All I can say is that I see reality far differently than you see it – so differently that I’m afraid that I cannot take your advice that I “resolve” on this New Year’s Day “to renew [my] faith in the goodwill of our elected leaders in Washington to work for the greater good and [my] confidence that their efforts will triumph if we all work together.”
First, I can’t renew a faith and confidence that I never possessed.  Second, resolving to have faith and confidence in the goodwill and abilities of politicians, especially today when they legislate largely without Constitutional restraints, makes no more sense to me than resolving to have faith and confidence that there really is a Santa Claus.  Imagining such an alternate reality can be fun, but it’s a pastime for children, not for adults.
If you really wish to serve your fellow Americans, stay in the private sector where those with whom you deal pay you voluntarily – that is, in ways that prove that you are serving them well.  In politics, you’ll be spending money taken from others forcibly, so you’ll have precious little reliable feedback on whether you are helping or harming your fellow Americans.
I wish you and yours a great 2014.
Sincerely,
Donald J. Boudreaux
