OBAMA AS RACIST!

OBAMA AS RACIST! On the folly of minimum-wage legislation . Here are my final four paragraphs: In the late 1940s, the unemployment rate of black teenagers in America was lower than the unemployment rate of white teenagers. In the 1950s, the minimum wage began to rise steeply and, along with it, so did the unemployment rate of teens. But the unemployment rate of black teens rose much faster than did that of white teens. Thomas Sowell, Walter Williams and many other economists argue that the minimum wage is to blame. The arbitrarily higher wage creates a surplus of low-skilled workers; there are more people willing to work at the minimum wage than there are jobs at that wage. Because people are prohibited by law from competing for jobs by offering to work at wages lower than the minimum, employers have an overabundance of applicants for each entry-level job that needs to be filled. Employers thus tend over time to make “safe” hires — teens from prosperous suburbs with decent schools, rather than teens from the inner city with lousy schools. Today, the unemployment rate of white teens is 20.8 percent. That of black teens is 82 percent higher, at 37.8 percent. Do you think black teens’ much higher rate of unemployment today than that of whites is explained by racial discrimination? Is such discrimination worse today than it was in 1948? Or might a better explanation for the changing employment fortunes of black teens be that the minimum wage prices more black teens than white teens out of jobs?

WHY LIMITED GOVERNMENT - BECAUSE GOVERNMENT IS CONTRADICTION

WHY LIMITED GOVERNMENT - BECAUSE GOVERNMENT IS CONTRADICTION From: “What Everyone Should Know About Economics and Prosperity “ By James Gwartney’s and Richard Stroup’s marvelous 1993 primer: “Similarly, the record of government planning in the United States is fraught with internal inconsistencies. The federal government both subsidizes tobacco growers and propagandizes against smoking. It pays some farmers not to produce grain products and, at the same time, subsidizes others with irrigation projects so they can grow more of the very same grain products. Government programs for dairy farmers keep the price of milk high, while its subsidies to the school lunch program make the expensive milk more affordable. Government regulations mandating stronger bumpers make automobiles safer, while the governments Corporate Average Fuel Economy (CAFE) standards make them lighter and more dangerous. Both increase the cost of automobiles. Those who think that central planning will promote economic progress are naive. When business enterprises get more funds from governments and less from consumers, they will spend more time trying to satisfy politicians and less time satisfying customers. Predictably, this reallocation of resources will lead to economic regression rather than prosperity.” OR REDUCED TO ONE SENTENCE: “If you put the federal government in charge of the Sahara Desert, in 5 years there'd be a shortage of sand.” - Milton Friedma

30,000 illegal immigrants in federal detention

30,000 illegal immigrants in federal detention According to the National Immigration Forum, it costs the government about $164 a day to keep an illegal immigrant facing deportation jailed. In a report on immigration detention costs last year.

Apocalypse Fatigue

Apocalypse Fatigue George Will on apocalypse fatigue. A slice: Because crises are government’s excuse for growing, liberalism’s motto is: Never let a crisis go unfabricated. But its promiscuous production of crises has made them boring.

Mental pictures of parts of reality

Mental pictures of parts of reality Café Hayek: And this fact is precisely why ceteris paribus theorizing is so crucial. Our theories are meant to give us mental pictures of parts of reality. To take mental snap shots of any part of reality that we wish to better understand, we cannot rely upon reality itself to isolate for us those parts of itself – those parts of reality – that we’re most interested in understanding. So we theorize, and in theorizing we economists (as do all scientists) use ceteris paribus restrictions. To use such restrictions is no sign that the scientist really believes that ceteris is paribus - or that ceteris should be paribus. To use such restrictions is simply an unavoidable part of thinking seriously about an ever-changing and complex reality.

“Against Leviathan”

Robert Higgs:, “Against Leviathan”; specifically, it’s from Bob’s essay “Escaping Leviathan?”: “Scholars have been slow to appreciate that elections are and always have been for the most part a sham – a mere ceremony intended to make people believe they have some control over their fate even as they are mercilessly bullied, bamboozled, and fleeced by their rulers.”, from page 283 of the 2004 volume.

OBAMA DEMAGOGUERY

OBAMA DEMAGOGUERY FEBRUARY 26, 2013 4:00 A.M. Squeezing Medicare Advantage Obama slashes a private-sector approach while decrying cuts everywhere else. By John Fund The Obama administration is sparing no effort to scare people about the automatic spending cuts that are scheduled to hit this Friday. But the Obama administration doesn’t want to talk about its own devastating cuts in Medicare. On Friday, February 15, the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) announced $716 billion in cuts over the next ten years. Instead of being put toward the debt, most of the money will go toward a new entitlement: Obamacare’s vast expansion of coverage for the uninsured. To add cynicism to injury, the Obama administration postponed the Medicare Advantage cuts until after the 2012 election, using a slush fund to tide the program over and conceal the true costs of Obamacare to seniors. Seniors are now going to confront a new chronic condition — politics. Unless it is changed, Obamacare will relentlessly restrict the choices seniors have by forcing them into traditional Medicare with all of its attendant contradictions, restrictions, and waste. Medicare Advantage has its problems, but they could be surgically addressed.

Robbing one another in the name of brotherhood

Frederic Bastiat‘s 1850 treatise, Economic Harmonies Robbing one another in the name of brotherhood Unquestionably, simple out-and-out plunder is so clearly unjust as to be repugnant to us; but, thanks to the motto, all for one, we can allay our qualms of conscience. We impose on others the duty of working for us. Then, we arrogate to ourselves the right to enjoy the fruits of other men’s labor. We call upon the state, the law, to enforce our so-called duty, to protect our so-called right, and we end in the fantastic situation of robbing one another in the name of brotherhood. We live at other men’s expense, and then call ourselves heroically self-sacrificing for so doing.

White House Report Claims Sequestration Will Affect Federal Department That No Longer Exists

White House Report Claims Sequestration Will Affect Federal Department That No Longer Exists Mike Riggs|Feb. 25, 2013 12:25 pm The first line item on page 121 of the OMB's September 2012 report says that under sequestration the National Drug Intelligence Center would lose $2 million of its $20 million budget. While that's slightly more than 8.2 percent (rounding error or scare tactic?), the bigger problem is that the National Drug Intelligence Center shuttered its doors on June 15, 2012--three months before the OMB issued its report to Congress.

HOLLYWOOD GROVELS BEFORE OBAMA

HOLLYWOOD GROVELS BEFORE OBAMA ROGER SIMON: Shame, shame on all sides. Hollywood has enough of a reputation for being in the pocket of the Democratic Party, but now they not only are in the pocket, they’re in the wallet, the purse, the laptop, the vestibule, the fax machine, the refrigerator, the oven, the slow cooker, shoes, socks, bell, book and candle and just about everything else. Well, let’s hope those tax benefits keep rolling in. Or maybe they just wanted to make sure Clint Eastwood wouldn’t be a presenter. (He wasn’t.) In any case, it’s all out in the open now. Hollywood conservatives can go back in their foxholes. That all-clear signal they thought they might have been hearing after the 2010 election was an illusion. American entertainment is not the province of the whole country. It’s only the province of half the country

Truth lies wounded and bleeding

Truth lies wounded and bleeding Even Calvin Coolidge’s son correctly assessed the price of political power and success. He penned a poem with these words: “Men say untruths for you alone/ And by foul means you’re called their own.” Even Warren Harding knew that if you give government an inch it will take up a mile of wasteful spending. He said this after pensions were given out, “I venture the prediction that with such a precedent established the ultimate pension outlay in the half century before us will exceed 50 billions of dollars.” He could not predict that the outlays would never end. Even Calvin Coolidge speaks to Congress today - regardless of the nonsense of a looming sequester. “I believe in budgets, I want other people to believe in them. I have had a small one to run my own home; and besides that, I am the head of the organization that makes the greatest of all budgets, that of the United States government. Do you wonder, then, that at times, I dream of balance sheets, and sinking funds, and deficits, and tax rates , and all the rest? “ ... “I regard a good budget as among the noblest monuments of virtue.” Coolidge shouts from his grave: “ The chief business of the American people is business,” and ... “The chief ideal of the American people is idealism.” Even a child of mid 20th century wrote about the state of American affairs in 2003. “Now, in America, Truth lies wounded and bleeding, , Justice is made a laughing stock in our courts. Patriotism is frowned upon. Reverence is forbidden in our schools and public places. Government bodies of our cities are tainted by convicted felons such as those taking bribes, of tax evasion, of misuse of funds and of drug addiction and who knows what else? What would she ( a sister) say if she heard our national anthem being ridiculed at an event televised worldwide by a so-called celebrity?” Even I agree. What about you?

STANDING AGAINST OHIO CONSUMERS

STANDING AGAINST OHIO CONSUMERS The fallacies and hint of cronyism in Sherrod Brown’s populist view of trade are the greatest reason to argue for limited government. Grasping government and politicians interfering in free trade can only be to the detriment of consumers. Do you really think they know what is best for you? Does standing up against China equal more jobs in manufacturing? Is Sherrod Brown’s loyalty to Ohio Manufacturers, Ohio Consumers or China? Most countries are organized to support Manufacturers/Sellers/Farmers/ politicians - the Establishment. In simple terms, the government protects, supports and defends the Establishment. Consumers get what the Establishment gives them and they are expected to be silent and thankful for their crumbs. Most economies in the world are designed to serve the establishment. I know because I deal with consumers on 2 other continents that are stunned by our consumer freedom; theirs is life of regulated choices and government set prices. The United States is one of the few consumer driven economies in the world. Remember those quaint sayings, “the customer is always right” and “the customer is king”? Those statements are actually true here and it drives the Establishment and politicians crazy. Consumers want low cost goods to make their lives enjoyable. If they buy something from China for $1.00 instead of $5.00 if it is manufactured here in America, consumers have an extra $4.00 to spend on what they personally want and American producers in turn will be encouraged to actually produce something that will get them that extra $4.00 burning a hole in the consumer’s pocket. The Establishment and politicians, however, would rather engage in cronyism and force the consumer to pay $5.00. Free Trade results in increased production and wealth in the U.S. that ends up in the hands of the consumer and not in the pockets of the power brokers. Oddly, being for restricted trade and high wages does not apply to all of Sherrod Brown’s ideas of fairness. Sen. Sherrod Brown (D., Ohio) said: “Interns in my Washington, D.C. office work on a wide range of projects ... but the young folks are on their own when it comes to expenses. ... internships in my Ohio and Washington, D.C. offices are unpaid. In addition, we are unable to reimburse you for parking and mileage.” So much for taking care of American ‘workers.’ P. J. O’Rourke famously quipped that “giving money and power to government is like giving whiskey and car keys to teenage boys.” Rules against free trade will end up applying only to the LITTLE PEOPLE AND YOU THE CONSUMER ARE A LITTLE PERSON to the Establishment!

Did Rush Limbaugh just launch a Tea Party revival effort?

Did Rush Limbaugh just launch a Tea Party revival effort? Rush Limbaugh opened his show this afternoon proclaiming that for the first time in his career, he was ashamed of his country. Why? Limbaugh explained that both political parties in Washington refused to stop spending and used alarmist scare tactics every time anyone proposed cuts to government programs. Limbaugh criticized the "fear and panic" prompted by both parties together with the media each time there were any proposed spending cuts. "I've said the same things over and over for 25 years," Limbaugh said, adding that it didn't matter who was in power. "It's the same stuff, it's the same threats, it's the same arguments, over and over nothing ever changes." "We just keep spending more money, we create more dependency, we get more and more irresponsible one crisis to the next, all of them manufactured," Limbaugh added. "Except for the real crisis that nobody ever addresses and that is we can't afford it." Limbaugh's comments reflect a common Tea Party frustration not only with Democrats but also with Republicans. Stop spending all the money. Stop creating false panics every time someone proposes cuts in government spending. And stop spending more money than you did the year before. A similar frustration boiled over was when Rick Santelli gave his speech heard around the world calling for a new Tea Party That rant was almost exactly four years ago, on February 19, 2009. ‘WORST INSURER’ GETS $340 MILLION FROM OBAMA HEALTH CARE CO-OP!

‘WORST INSURER’ GETS $340 MILLION FROM OBAMA HEALTH CARE CO-OP! CRONY NATION: Obama Ally Got $340 Million To Set Up Health Care Co-ops. But that’s just the beginning. And they forgot about the Wayback Machine: A health insurance company headed by an old friend from President Obama’s days as a community organizer got a $340 million federal loan to establish Obamacare co-ops in New York, New Jersey and Oregon despite having a chronic record of consumer and regulatory complaints. The New York-based Freelancers Insurance Company has been rated the “worst” insurer for two straight years by state regulators, and data compiled by a national insurance association show an extremely high rate of consumer complaints. The firm was founded in 2008 by Sara Horowitz, who worked with Obama before his career in elective politics to launch Demos, a left-wing, New York think tank funded in part by George Soros. Before May 13, 2011, the Demos website described Horowitz and Obama as members of the founding group in 1999 that became “the core of Demos’ staff and Board of Trustees.” Sometime between that date and Nov. 6, 2011, the Obama reference was deleted, according to cached versions of the site stored by the Internet Archive’s Wayback Machine.

Breaking News: Five Months After Benghazi Murders: Killers Frolic Untouched

Breaking News: Five Months After Benghazi Murders: Killers Frolic Untouched by Barry Rubin February 19th, 2013 - 9:16 am Five months ago, radical Islamists in Libya murdered four American officials, and President Barack Obama and Secretary of State Hillary Clinton warned that the administration would not rest until those responsible were caught. Yet it seems as if nothing has been done: just as the White House did nothing on September 11, 2012, while the U.S. consulate was under attack, it has done nothing serious since, and is doing nothing now. Want proof? Consider this report: Just days after President Barack Obama vowed to hunt down and bring to justice those responsible for the Sept. 11 attack on the U.S. diplomatic compound here, Ahmed Abu Khattala — one of those considered a ringleader — spent two leisurely hours Thursday evening at a luxury hotel full of journalists, relaxed in a red fez and sandals, sipping mango juice on a patio overlooking the Mediterranean and scoffing at the threats coming from both the American and Libyan governments. MR. RUBIN THEN REFERS TO NEWS MEDIA INTERVIEWS BY THE TERRORISTS IN WHICH THEY BOAST OF THE VICTORY AND U.S. WEAKNESS. BUT OBAMA’S INVESTIGATION STILL CAN’T DETERMINE RESPONSIBILITY OR FIND THEM AFTER 4 MONTHS! But the infectious disease of bureaucratic brainlessness is spreading all over

HANK YOU PRESIDENT OBAMA

THANK YOU PRESIDENT OBAMA This President's Day also marked a full month of rising gas prices every single business day, following a very small early year drop. Gas prices began rising Jan. 18, from $3.29.3-a-gallon, and have soared since. If this increase continues, gas prices could threaten or even top the all-time high price of $4.11, set in 2008.

Targets of Children, Pregnant Women, Mothers in playgrounds, and Elderly

TRUST THE GOVERNMENT - THEY KNOW THE REAL THREATS “non-traditional threat” Targets of Children, Pregnant Women, Mothers in playgrounds, and Elderly USA --(Ammoland.com)- A provider of “realistic” shooting targets to the Department of Homeland Security and other federal agencies has created a line of “non-traditional threat” targets that include pregnant women, mothers in playgrounds and elderly American gun owners. Law Enforcement Targets, Inc. is a 21-year designer and full service provider of training targets for the DHS, the Justice Department and thousands of law enforcement agencies throughout the country. The company’s website offers a line of “No More Hesitation” targets ”designed to give officers the experience of dealing with deadly force shooting scenarios with subjects that are not the norm during training.” The targets are, “meant to help the transition for officers who are faced with these highly unusual targets for the first time.” The targets include “pregnant woman threat,” “older man with shotgun,” “older man in home with shotgun,” “older woman with gun,” “young school aged girl,” “young mother on playground,” and “little boy with real gun.” Why are top training target suppliers for the government supplying the likes of the DHS with “non-traditional threat” targets of children, pregnant women, mothers in playgrounds, and elderly American gun owners unless there is a demand for such items? WARRANTLESS SEARCH OF HOMES

LIBERAL IDEA OF ‘COMMON-SENSE REGULATION OF GUNS’ WARRANT LESS SEARCH OF HOMES State of Washington has bill to let sheriff peek into every room of your house. Responding to the Newtown school massacre, the bill would ban the sale of semi-automatic weapons that use detachable ammunition magazines. Clips that contain more than 10 rounds would be illegal. But then, with respect to the thousands of weapons like that already owned by Washington residents, the bill says this: “In order to continue to possess an assault weapon that was legally possessed on the effective date of this section, the person possessing shall ... safely and securely store the assault weapon. The sheriff of the county may, no more than once per year, conduct an inspection to ensure compliance with this subsection.” In other words, come into homes without a warrant to poke around. Failure to comply could get you up to a year in jail.

Embarrassed by its Puerile Faith in Presidential Magic

Embarrassed by its Puerile Faith in Presidential Magic Is from today’s Washington Post column by George Will (original link): In the 12 months we have to steel ourselves for the next State of the Union spectacle, let us count the ways that this spawn of democratic Caesarism — presidency worship — has become grotesque. It would be the most embarrassing ceremony in the nation’s civic liturgy, were the nation still capable of being embarrassed by its puerile faith in presidential magic.

Monarchical Urge Persists

Monarchical Urge Persists MARK STEYN: ACHIEVE YE THIS GOAL: ‘I’m also issuing a new goal for America,” declared President Obama at his State of the Union on Tuesday. We’ll come to the particular “goal” he “issued” momentarily, but before we do, consider that formulation: Did you know the president of the United States is now in the business of “issuing goals” for his subjects to live up to? Strange how the monarchical urge persists even in a republic two-and-a-third centuries old.

THE ‘INACTION’ MOVIE THAT WILL NEVER BE MADE!

THE ‘INACTION’ MOVIE THAT WILL NEVER BE MADE! ROGER SIMON: Benghazi: The Motion Picture. One story, however, cries out for cinematic dramatization — Benghazi. It is concise and highly dramatic. And mysteries abound – just where was the president of the United States that night our ambassador and others were under terror attack in North Africa? Why wasn’t Obama directly involved? Why did the secretary of State pay so little attention? Just what was our ambassador to Libya doing in Benghazi that night anyway? Why were the perpetrators allowed to escape? Why did the president lie for weeks about what transpired, trying to make a hopeless video nobody saw seem the cause of the event? And why were his lies covered up by CNN’s Candy Crowley? Why was no attempt made to save our people in the first place? (I could go on, but you get the drift.) Though I could guess (and the Daily Mail has some theories), I don’t know the definitive answer to any of these questions, but I do know one thing: If I did… if anybody did… know the truth, Benghazi would be one helluva movie. And a commercial one. But would anybody make it?

body armor and guns

body armor and guns Elderly couple pulled over after their Buckeye car decal is mistaken for a marijuana leaf Apparently Ohio State – and college football in general – isn’t very popular in the state of Tennessee. At least not with the police. Bonnie Jonas-Boggioni, 65, and her husband were driving home to Plano, Texas from Columbus after attending her mother-in-law’s funeral when a pair of black police SUV’s stopped the couple a few miles outside of Memphis. “Knowing I wasn’t speeding, I couldn’t imagine why,” Jonas-Boggioni told the Columbus Dispatch. “They were very serious. They had the body armor and the guns.” On the back of Jonas-Boggioni’s car was a Buckeye leaf decal, similar to the one players’ have on their helmets, and cops mistakenly thought it was marijuana leaf. Yes, really. “What are you doing with a marijuana sticker on your bumper?” one of the cops asked Jonas-Boggioni. After trying to explain that the sticker was not a marijuana leaf and that she and her husband were not trafficking drugs cross-country, the police advised Jonas-Boggioni to remove the sticker as to not cause any more confusion. You know, just in case there were any other moronic drug cops out there that didn’t actually know what a marijuana leaf looked like.

WHITE HOUSE CONFIRMS: OBAMA DID NOTHING ON BENGHAZI

BY JOHN HINDERAKER IN BENGHAZIGATE WHITE HOUSE CONFIRMS: OBAMA DID NOTHING ON BENGHAZI The White House admitted today that President Obama made no phone calls–none, zero–on the evening of September 11, 2012, during the seven or eight hours when Americans were being murdered in Benghazi. He didn’t talk to Leon Panetta, or any military personnel, or Hillary Clinton. What was he doing that night? We may never know; perhaps writing the speech that he gave at a campaign event the next day in Las Vegas. I think Ann Althouse hit the nail on the head in a post titled “Why did the White House deceive us after the Benghazi Attack?” She quotes Bill Kristol and Peter Wehner, concluding with this question: This is an embarrassment and a disgrace. Is it too much to hope that President Obama is privately ashamed of his inattention and passivity that night? This is Ann’s answer: I think he is ashamed. Here’s what I’ve been assuming happened: It looked like our people were overwhelmed and doomed, so there was shock, sadness, and acceptance. But then the fight went on for 7 or 8 hours. The White House folk decided there was nothing to do but accept the inevitable, and then they witnessed a valiant fight which they had done nothing to support. It was always too late to help. It was too late after one hour, then too late after 2 hours, then too late after 3 hours…. When were these people going to die already? After that was all over, how do you explain what you did? I, too, hope that Obama–and Hillary Clinton, also–have the decency to be ashamed of themselves.

‘The Pilgrims were illegal aliens.’ According to the Government

‘The Pilgrims were illegal aliens.’ According to the Government GOVERNMENT: Confidential, expensive USDA sensitivity training: ‘The Pilgrims were illegal aliens.’ Footage of the United States Department of Agriculture’s compulsory “Cultural Sensitivity Training” program reveals USDA employees being instructed to refer to the Pilgrims as “illegal aliens” and minorities as “emerging majorities” — at “a huge expense” to taxpayers. The video clips were made public Thursday evening by the conservative government accountability group Judicial Watch, which obtained them through a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request made on May 18, 2012. . . . At times in the video, Betances poked fun at “white males.”

I BELIEVE THE PRESIDENT - AFTER ALL HE IS FROM THE GOVERNMENT

I BELIEVE THE PRESIDENT - AFTER ALL HE IS FROM THE GOVERNMENT During a Google Plus “Fireside Hangout,” Obama was asked why he favored a ban on assault weapons, which account for only a small percentage of gun deaths, as opposed to handguns, which are responsible for the majority. “I actually don’t think we should ban handguns,” Obama said. “But keep in mind what we’re trying to do is come up with a package that protects Second Amendment rights but also contributes to reduce violence.”

Another dud in federal battery program

THANK YOU PRES. OBAMA Another dud in federal battery program Taxpayer dollars pay employees to volunteer at local nonprofits, play games and watch movies.” #GREENFAIL: Another dud in federal battery program. “President Barack Obama used his fifth State of the Union address to extol the virtue and job-creating power of federal investment in solar, wind and advanced battery development. Maybe he should have consulted his Department of Energy first. In a scathing report issued Wednesday, the department’s Office of Inspector General said LG Chem Michigan Inc. misused most of $150 million in federal grants to build its battery cell manufacturing plant in Holland. The company used taxpayer dollars to pay employees to volunteer at local nonprofits, play games and watch movies.” And, effectively, to vote Democratic. I’ll bet they delivered on that one.

Crises to serve the politicians’ interests

Crises to serve the politicians’ interests The great Bruce Yandle explains Rahm’s Rule of crisis management. Here’s Bruce’s conclusion: In today’s economy, regulation is found at every meaningful margin. Politicians set and rearrange prices for important services and products for consumers nationwide. They open and close market entry and give advantage to favored groups by altering taxes, depreciation schedules, and other regulatory schemes. Doing all this in the full light of day and with full and open debate would be a challenge. But then there are crises to serve the politicians’ interests. Some arise spontaneously and some are created or magnified consciously by the politicians themselves. The sequestration element in the fiscal cliff story is an example. The shouts of crisis and the end of western civilization that preceded TARP are another. In all cases, Rahm’s Rule applies: “You never want a serious crisis to go to waste.”

Obama Prepares To Screw His Base: Young people re-elected the president. “ACCEPTED WASTE”

“ACCEPTED WASTE” “Accepted waste,” is an accurate definition of government coined by Brian McLaughlin. All government is involved in taking wealth from some Americans and redeploying or redistributing it to others (citizens or not) chosen by politicians and bureaucrats, ostensibly for the public good. What government takes is wasted forever. Sometimes government even performs a necessary service to the community ( but always inefficiently). We would like to believe that politicians and bureaucrats are altruistic, dedicated and selfless public servants who would never take into consideration political affiliation, be self-servicing or bow to lobbying or cronyism. Reality flies in the face of this concept and sticky things called facts back it up. Every thinking American knows the pettiness, corruption, and grasping that is the hallmark of government at every level. Yet, liberals, progressive politicians, and bureaucrats continually tell us that ‘this time it will be different’ when they want a new levy, investment or tax - if only people will give them a little more of the treasure they produce. Long ago, in 1867, Englishman, Sir Louis Mallet’s rightly observed the poor role of government when he said: “... we add to these considerations the singular inaptitude of the governing classes of this country to comprehend foreign affairs, the extraordinary errors which are usually to be observed in their judgements and opinions ....” Mark the words “inaptitude” and “errors ... (of) judgement” and think of the heavy corrupt hand of government coming in ObamaCare. Yes, I know liberals and progressives assure us this time it will be different. In modern days, Robert Heinlein, an American writer and thinker notes: “Throughout history, poverty is the normal condition of man. Advances which permit this norm to be exceeded - here and there, now and then- are the work of an extremely small minority, frequently despised, often condemned, and almost always opposed by all right-thinking people. Whenever this tiny minority is kept from creating, or (as sometimes happens) is driven out of a society, the people then slip back into abject poverty. This is known as ‘bad luck.’" But today, Pres. Obama assures workers and creators that “you didn’t build that.” In his Second Inaugural Address he assured us that only the collective and not the individual is the road to success. The collective and its handmaiden government trump personhood and freewill. Denials not withstanding, the goal of the Obama administration is to make us a nation of takers and not makers. About 46 million people get government help in the form of food stamps. That's roughly 15 percent of the population and a 50% increase from just a few years ago. In Fayette County, I see it proudly proclaimed that 50% of our students are on the government school food program. What happened to the bowl of Wheaties for breakfast and a baloney sandwich for lunch? Oh, and the apple. Surely Fayette County parents, you can do better than just turning your kids over to the government? Caring government is not the solution because if you allow them to care, you show that you do not care enough to assume personal responsibility. Don’t you see the very contradiction between the words caring and government? “Accepted waste” means government programs must always grow. How long before it is proposed that we bus the parents to school so they can also have a free government-sponsored breakfast and lunch? Are the parents no less hungry than the children? Will government eventually bring in Fido and Fluffy in for a nutritious, well-balanced pet breakfast and lunch? Then we can all sing, “ Oh, Happy Day” to the collective. From utopian communities of the 19th century to the Soviet Union and now European socialism, the history of the collective has been failure after failure. Is Obama’s goal to allow America to slip back into abject poverty so as to prove once again the inaptitude of the collective and government? Many times incompetence of governance becomes a source of pride for its liberal or progressives supporters. For example, Nancy Ward, Administrator at FEMA, recently justified FEMA’s incompetence by saying, “It doesn’t always work out the way we intended but we never stop trying.” Isn’t one of the definitions of insanity doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results? That which is surrendered to government is lost forever to the citizens and producers of wealth. “There is no worse tyranny than to force a man to pay for what he does not want merely because you think it would be good for him,” says Robert Heinlein. The continual sucking of initiative, wealth and property from the individual and turning it over to self-serving politicians and faceless bureaucrats will only end in the collapse of democracy and individual freedom. What can we do to reject the “accepted waste” of government? To simply say “NO” as Nancy Reagan suggested to drugs is simply not enough. “YES” to a tad more personal responsibility might be in order.

Fifty Followers

Fifty Followers To my fifty followers, I offer this: “We’re not close to where the season is.” Get it? Apparently a Columbus, Ohio basketball coach does because this quote is from him about his team. Public officials are no more brilliantly literate. A spokesman for the East coast blizzard this week said that “conditions are blanking.” Get it? Apparently he thought someone understood. Finally, a local car dealer asked prospective buyers to “take advantage of truck month pricing.” Get it? Apparently he hoped some person would. So if I have only 50 followers of my blog, I hope I at least offer a thoughtful, informative site from a cynic with tea party sympathies. Yes, we are still out here - and there - and everywhere across America. To paraphrase Anne Frank, “In spite of everything, I still believe people are good at heart.”

BENGHAZI: And Obama's Empty Chair In Practice

BENGHAZI: The Empty Chair In Practice. Do you remember when Clint Eastwood did his empty chair bit at the GOP convention? The left berated him as an old senile weirdo. Then came the Denver Debate and the New Yorker Cover, conservatives laughed and liberals panicked. While some thought it a joke and some thought it a farce the true meaning of the empty chair was never clearer than it was at the Benghazi hearings. . . . The story is that on 9/11 during an attack on Americans in Benghazi (including a person he knew personally) the President of the United States was disinterested. • BY DANIEL HALPER WASHINGTON EXAMINER 2/8/2013 Defense Secretary Leon Panetta testified this morning on Capitol Hill that President Barack Obama was absent the night four Americans were murdered in Benghazi on September 11, 2012: ...The 5 o'clock meeting was a pre-scheduled 30-minute session, where, according to Panetta's recollection, they spent about 20 minutes talking a lot about the American embassy that was surrounded in Egypt and the situation that was just unfolding in Benghazi. ...Panetta said, though he did meet with Obama at a 5 o'clock prescheduled gathering, the president left operational details, including knowledge of what resources were available to help the Americans under siege, "up to us." In fact, Panetta says that the night of 9/11, he did not communicate with a single person at the White House. The attack resulted in the deaths of four Americans, including Ambassador Chris Stevens. Obama did not call or communicate in anyway with the defense secretary that night. There were no calls about what was going on in Benghazi. He never called to check-in.

Why You Should Be Attending The Tea Party

Why You Should Be Attending The Tea Party Meeting Kasich’s Cave on Obamacare Shows how hard it is to beat big government From: The Washington Examiner Philip Klein Kasich’s cave on Obamacare shows how hard it is to beat big government. Gov. John Kasich, who campaigned as a limited government Republican, on Monday announced that he would implement one of the costliest provisions of President Obama’s health care law by expanding the state’s Medicaid program. His decision, a huge victory for the White House that will provide cover for more Republican governors to do the same, serves as a great case study on how difficult it is to impede the growth of government. Whatever justifications Kasich may give, the actual explanation for his embrace of the Medicaid expansion is political cowardice. ... The end result is that a politician who ran for office claiming to have been “in the Tea Party before there was a Tea Party” is now actively embracing a policy that the Tea Party movement was born to oppose. DOES KASICH SPEAK FOR YOU? ONLY THE TEA PARTY STANDS FOR LIMITED GOVERNMENT JOIN US TO BE HEARD ON FEDERAL & LOCAL TAXES

“ACCEPTED WASTE”

“ACCEPTED WASTE” “Accepted waste,” a definition of government by Brian McLaughlin is probably the most accurate definition of government. Consider, all government is involved in taking wealth from the citizenry and ‘redeploying’, or redistributing the wealth to others. Sometimes, government performs a necessary service to the community ( inefficiently, of course). Theoretically, government is populated by altruistic, dedicated and selfless public servants who would never take into consideration politics, self-serving, lobbying or greedy redistribution of wealth seized from the populace through taxation. All realities and facts fly in the face of this concept; everyman knows the pettiness, corruption, and grasping that is the hallmark of government at every level. Yet, in every age we have liberals, progressives, politicians, and bureaucrats tell us that ‘this time it will be different’ if only we will give them a little more of the treasure produced by the people. Long ago, in 1867, Sir Louis Mallet’s rightly observed: “... we add to these considerations the singular inaptitude of the governing classes of this country to comprehend foreign affairs, the extraordinary errors which are usually to be observed in their judgements and opinions ....” Mark those words “inaptitude” and “errors ... (of) judgement” and think of the heavy corrupt hand of government coming in ObamaCare. Yes, I know liberals and progressives assure us this time it will be different. In modern days, Robert Heinlein notes: “Throughout history, poverty is the normal condition of man. This is known as ‘bad luck.’" But in our day, Pres. Obama assure us, the workers and creators, that “you didn’t build that.” In his Second Inaugural Address he assures us that only the collective and not the individual is the road to success. The collective and its handmaiden government trump personhood and freewill. From utopian communities, to the Soviet Union and now in European Socialism, the history of the collective has been failure and more failure. Is America to slip back into abject poverty to prove once again the inaptitude of the collective and government? Many times incompetence of governance becomes a source of pride. Nancy Ward, Administrator at FEMA, recently justified FEMA’s incompetence by saying “It doesn’t always work out the way we intended; but we never stop trying.” Isn’t one of the definitions of insanity doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results? That which is surrendered to government is lost forever to the citizens, the producers of wealth. “There is no worse tyranny than to force a man to pay for what he does not want merely because you think it would be good for him,” says Robert Heinlein. What can we do to not accept the waste? Shouldn’t we be persons and not slaves to the collective? “Accepted Waste” is the true definition of government which we must protest at all times.

IRS: Cheapest Obamacare Plan Will Be $20,000 Per Family

IRS: Cheapest Obamacare Plan Will Be $20,000 Per Family The IRS's assumption that the cheapest plan for a family will cost $20,000 per year is found in examples the IRS gives to help people understand how to calculate the penalty they will need to pay the government if they do not buy a mandated health plan. Bronze will be the lowest tier health-insurance plan available under Obamacare--after Silver, Gold, and Platinum. Under the law, the penalty for not buying health insurance is supposed to be capped at either the annual average Bronze premium, 2.5 percent of taxable income, or $2,085.00 per family in 2016. Mind that word ‘penalty’ that the IRS will extract from you by all force necessary if you don’t pony up the $20,000. AllHail ObamaCare PEW POLL: Majority of Americans see Washington as a threat to their “personal rights and freedoms.” You’d think the GOP could do something with that .
