Progressives and progress

1. That is the essence of it all. That is the key to it all. That is the siren’s call to the “Progressives” of the world: “I can be greedy in the name of compassion and equality. Therefore I am not really greedy. And people who don’t put on the mask that I do must really be bad people despite their actions.” It’s all about the masks. The idea that it might really just be all about what the mask conceals is a disturbing concept to them.

2. It was the Progressive movement that successfully argued government is inherent benevolent and trustworthy. Our Founding Fathers instead feared the normal sinfulness of human beings. A trust but verify attitude was deemed nonnegotiable with dealing even with our most virtuous fellow citizens. Progressives believed that well meaning elected officials and government employees possessing advanced degrees behind their names could never go astray. Regrettably, I am not exaggerating. In their heart of hearts, this is what they truly believed. The same, of course, holds true for today’s Obama administration. Our “elites” are supposedly incapable of sinning. These individuals are our secular saints.

3. If the feds would just stop actively dissuading businesses from creating jobs, it would be a good start.

4. Prison is full of brilliant scholars. I have not seen anyone with enough pure intellectual force that can compensate for other qualities of leadership that are vital to a successfull presidency. To date, Obama appears to be a combination of Carter and Nixon's worse characteristics, and impulses. While Regan was called a dunce, he was always clear what his value and belief system was, and even those who opposed him could respect it. Integrity is a rare quality in an individual, the ability to discern an issue, stating your beliefs, and taking a risk in acting on those beliefs.

5. You could say Obama has integrity if it weren't for the fact he tends to say one thing, then do another, or rely on the teleprompter to speak, or having to backtrack on things because he shot before taking aim (lack of discernment).

6. My problem is I can never distinguish between those who know that they are inconsistent in their principles, and those who are the True Believers with zero self-awareness.

7. In a brief op-ed in USA Today, White House counterterrorism chief John Brennan charges that critics who question the Obama administration's decision to grant Miranda rights to accused Detroit bomber Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab are "serv[ing] the goals of al Taeda." WE ARE SURROUNDED BY IDIOTS IN THE OBAMA ADMINISTRATION!

8. It is obvious, therefore, that in order to be effective, a doctrine must not be understood, but has to be believed in... A doctrine that is understood is shorn of its strength. ( Obama’s communism, socialism, liberalism, statism, disguised as hope and change). Mass movements can rise and spread without a belief in a God, but never without belief in a devil. ( guess who? George W. Bush and conservatives)
